Thoughts are a jumble, tuning in was a hectic scramble but got there just in time for this, the not-very-well-kept secret of Adam and global icons Queen crowning off the EMAs with a medley of "The Show Must Go On", "Under Pressure", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions":
MAGNIFICENT.
Power.
Panache.
What a voice.
What a frontman.
No one else could.
Global Icon.
I got my wish.
There may be some more thoughts tomorrow after repeated viewings.
Also, weird red carpet wide forehead hair with fugly clunky blue shoes that remind me of '80s wallabies. But I don't give a fuck when has a voice like that and performs like that.
Did I mention that he's a fucking megastar?

Magnificent, breath-taking, I'm soooo proud of him. What an honor,two years after his infamous AMA closing act, Europe giving our star the platform the tight-assed American music world won't give him. What a stunning, awesome performance this was. Thank-you, Queen. Thank-you, Europe!
ReplyDeleteAB you're right only single words seem to best describe this EPIC performance. I've seen Freddie live, it was my first large concert and it blew my mind. Adam's "On with the Show" in particular did the same. My heart rate is still high from the repeated viewings :))
ReplyDeleteThis to me was about so much more than Adam's flawless performance. Adam's talent deserves to be on a stage with a legend like Brian May. Brian looked so friggin happy. I absolutely loved the way they followed each other around the stage, playing off each other.
And Adam's humility and generosity as a performer always shines through. No announcement immediately before the performance of his name because it was about QUEEN, not Adam. No real announcement beforehand. I'm sure all this was a conscious decision. What a class act he is. Small things like when he moved near Brian, he would sing from behind him.
When I see something like this, I can hardly believe that I have met this sweet, sweet man in person. God I would have loved to have been in that audience. (Nikki)

ReplyDeleteNow I understand why he was never mentioned in the EMA promos. He wasn't there for himself, it was all about honoring Queen. And by doing so Adam shined brighter than all the stars there.

ReplyDeleteI love the grit in his voice, I'm currently obsessed with his final note during SMGO! I don't think I've ever seen him dig so deep. This performance to me was on different level, very special.
Nikki, you were right about Adam being such a class act and not wanting his name mentioned. Terrance confirmed it. It's just one more reason why we love him so much. I thought he was so respectful, from the lack of a mention to the way he dressed - all in black with not too strong or flamboyant a fashion statement.
A few of you have asked about downloading this version. Apart from snipping, synching and adding a fade in/fade out to the original, I didn't add any creative input to it.
